Basic swimming skills trainings

Mastering the basic swimming skills is a ticket for teaching any swimming method (breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle, butterfly). If you are a non-swimmer and you can not swim in a swimming way or you do not control any of these skills, you must first go through this swimming training. Basic swimming skills include: breathing in water, floating, falling into the water, developing water sensation, underwater orientation and diving.

Teaching is done individually in the form of regular trainings. The above list is only indicative.

Prerequisites for swimming lessons:

  • there are no specific requirements, we assume it is a pure beginner and a non-swimmer,
  • it is recommended that you do not fear water,
  • good health.

Note: Content and length of training are quite individual. Children learn these skills in a nonviolent form for several years before they begin teaching swimming styles. Adults, though, understand faster what the tutor wants and they are more focused on, but on the other hand they tend to be more clumsy and lack the natural playfulness and ability of natural fast learning. Different mental blocks and barriers can be removed for many years ... The pace of teaching is therefore individual.

A rough outline of the content of swimming lessons:

  • familiarization with the aquatic environment,
  • water games, diving, walking and running in the water,
  • floating on your stomach,
  • floating on your back,
  • improve your feel for the water,
  • breathing technique in the water on the site and during a movement,
  • freestyle kick,
  • a fall into deep water,
  • diving and underwater navigation.

I recommend at least 20 lessons.

The goal: Remove fear from the aquatic environment and learn basic swimming skills such as breathing in water, floating, falling into the water, improving your feeling for the water, underwater and diving. The non-swimmer learns to do freestyle leg kick, by which he moves in the water. The lessons need to be continued. It usually follows the first swimming method that can be breaststroke or freestyle.

A note: The officially acknowledged criterion for someone to be labeled as a swimmer is a continuous swim distance of 200 meters without any rest and obvious signs of exhaustion. If someone can swim at least 10 m but cannot swim at least 200 m, I call him intermediate non-swimmer. If you are not able to swim at least 10 m, you are non-swimmer.
